They can be found&nbsp; from the summit of Mount Everest to the deepest oceans. We now know that we consume these tiny particles through food and water, and that we breathe them in. Microplastics have been shown to harm flora and fauna, but their impact on humans is unknown, although microplastics do damage human cells in the laboratory.
