Failure to reconcile the short-term challenges of peace and energy autonomy with the long-term challenges of climate change would affect the world for generations to come. When he delivered his 2019 inaugural address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said something that is a fitting message for the whole world today.
“We’re going to build the country of other opportunities… and for that, we need people in power who will serve the people. That’s why I really don’t want my picture in your offices, because the president is not an icon, an idol or a portrait. Instead, hang up the photos of your children and look at them every time you have to make a decision”.
