According to Ana Maria Hernandez Salgar, President of IPBES, the fact that biodiversity is declining
“is largely due to the fact that our current approach to economic and political decisions does not take sufficient account of the diversity of nature’s values. This assessment represents a valuable contribution to reorienting all decisions so that they are followed by results that benefit humanity and the rest of nature.”
