Methane is a greenhouse gas whose warming power is 80 times greater than that of CO2, hence the importance of reducing it to combat climate change. At COP26 in November 2021, 130 countries joined the Global Methane Pledge to reduce methane emissions by 30% by 2030. One year on, none of the signatories has sufficient plans to reduce methane emissions from livestock farming, which is responsible for 32% of global emissions. These include nine of the ten countries where the 15 largest meat and dairy companies have their headquarters. On theompanies still fail to declare their methane emissions across their entire supply chain.
