On Sunday, 1,428 marine mammals were killed en masse as part of the Faroese “Grindardráp” tradition. It’s an extremely harsh spectacle: wild, social, intelligent, intuitive creatures, particularly appreciated by human beings, thrown and slumped out of their element like so many sardines.
