On the subject of plastics, a historic resolution approved by 175 States kicked off negotiations on the first global treaty to put an end to plastic pollution. It should be completed before the end of 2024. Sf the negotiating States follow the guidelines set out in the resolution, it is likely that the final treaty will be more precise in the obligations it imposes on States to reduce plastic pollution than the Paris Agreement is for greenhouse gas emissions, given its vague wording.
