The Swiss refineries “condemn and reject any mining activity linked to protected areas in the Amazon without the consent […] of the communities affected”; they also promise to take “the necessary technical and human measures to avoid taking, importing or refining illegal gold, particularly from Brazil, by tracing and identifying this gold”. They also urge Jair Bolsonaro’s Brazilian government to do more to protect indigenous populations and the environment.
