The food-tech sector is booming in Switzerland, particularly in the cantons of Fribourg, Vaud and Zurich, home to several food innovation centers and the two Federal Institutes of Technology. More than 160 start-ups in this field accounted for 3% of new business investment in 2020 (totalling some CHF 2.3 billion), according to a report. Growth potential is therefore high. Planted Food is a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and one of the key players in the field of alternative proteins.
