Reading the latest IPCC report, published on August 9, is as chilling as the sight of this ice pack. It confirms what we’ve been fearing for several decades: global warming is getting worse, and it’s undeniably linked to human activity. The report’s conclusions are highly anxiety-provoking, but the gravity of the situation should prevent us from remaining tetanized in the face of the threats, and trigger a real awakening on the part of governments, who must treat the climate emergency as a crisis, as they did in the face of the covid-19 pandemic.
