Switzerland just misses its greenhouse gas reduction commitments

Switzerland’s emissions were to be cut by 20% by 2020 compared with 1990 levels. The reduction was only 19%, despite measures linked to the covid pandemic, yesterday’s mild weather and the possibility of taking into account the carbon sink results (processes that absorb carbon) of Swiss forests and wood products (around 350,000 tonnes of CO2). On the other hand, the lifting of pandemic-related restrictions led to a sharp rise in emissions.

French presidential election: why did the ecologists fail to convince?

Despite strong ambitions, the Europe Ecologie-Les Verts candidate failed to qualify for the second round. Yannick Jadot failed in his attempt to rally his camp by proposing to build a “successful” government ecology and by making “the environment an absolute priority”.
