Switzerland strongly criticized for delegating emission reductions to poorer countries

Switzerland pays poorer countries to reduce emissions on its behalf. If other countries follow suit, this could delay climate action in the world’s richest regions, while shifting the burden of emissions reduction to poorer countries. What’s more, Switzerland would benefit from projects in poor countries that would have been implemented anyway, with or without foreign funding.
