Another synthesis of 200 studies, published in 2021, demonstrated the relationship between happiness and closeness to nature. It appears that a sense of belonging to nature improves people’s preservation of nature, as well as their well-being. The analysis also highlights the fact that people with a strong connection to nature are happier, healthier and more inclined to protect biodiversity or fight climate change.
The artificialization of our living spaces is not good for our well-being, nor is it good for a sustainable environment. That’s why it’s so important to plant as much vegetation as possible in urban areas, with trees in the streets, plants in schoolyards and so on.
