In its first global assessment of heat pumps, the agency states that they have become “the core technology in the global transition to safe, sustainable heating”. According to the IEA, the switch from gas-fired boilers and other fossil fuels to heat pumps should reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by a volume equivalent to that of Canada by 2030.
