China is determined to achieve its environmental goals, firstly to peak carbon emissions by 2030, and then to become “carbon neutral” by 2060. The new carbon market it launched on Friday should contribute to this. In concrete terms, it will force thousands of companies in the country to reduce their polluting emissions, or face economic losses.
