Europeans love their meat, and they eat a lot of it, averaging around 1.5 kg a week. Greenpeace estimates that meat consumption will have to fall by 70% by the end of the decade, to 300g by 2050. if we hope to reduce the impact of global warmingUnfortunately, there is little enthusiasm for this reality. Politically, it seems almost impossible to reconcile the priorities of environmental action with the weight of often powerful agricultural lobbies and the expectations of populations accustomed to consuming large quantities of meat at unrealistic prices.
