According to calculations by the Global Footprint Network, humanity has exhausted the resources that the Earth can provide in one year. It arrives two months earlier than 20 years ago.
Why is diet largely responsible?
Firstly, we need a lot of land to grow more and more crops, mainly to feed livestock. Agriculture is responsible for 90% of deforestation.
Secondly, we also need a lot of water: agriculture accounts for 70% of freshwater use.
Finally, our current agricultural system emits a lot of CO2.
