How advertising allows brands to green their image and how to prevent them from doing so

On June 22, Zero Waste France filed a complaint against sneaker and sportswear brands Adidas and New Balance. She accuses them of greenwashing, citing the French Consumer Code, which prohibits misleading commercial practices. More and more advertisements use a whole range of clever tactics to convince us that the products they sell are good for the planet, often to no avail.

The heatwave is linked to global warming and foreshadows our future climate.

The intense heat wave, particularly early and unprecedented for this time of year, is the result of a phenomenon known as the “heat plume”, which brings hot, dry air carried by southerly winds up towards Europe. According to Christophe Cassou, climatologist and co-author of the 6th IPCC report, this is not a good sign, and he warns against accelerating global warming.

“Too Good to Go” launches a program to raise children’s awareness of food waste

The Danish mobile app “Too Good to Go”, launched in 2015 to combat food waste, is launching an educational project, “Mon école anti-gaspi”, aimed at elementary school children. Tested for eight months in nine schools with around 600 pupils, this initiative aims to raise awareness and educate children about food waste, encouraging them to adopt the right reflexes from an early age.

Switzerland must define concrete targets to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050

On Wednesday, the National Council adopted an indirect counter-proposal to the glacier initiative by 134 votes to 56. Both the initiative and the counter-project have the same objective: to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050. The initiators are calling for a ban on fossil fuels such as oil, gas, petrol and diesel. For the National it’s too extreme.
