Yuka app wins battle against charcuterie lobbies

The Paris Court of Appeal has ruled in favor of the Yuka application, bringing to an end two years of legal proceedings. The pork butchers’ federation had taken legal action against Yuka for “misleading commercial practices” and “denigration”, a challenge linked to the app’s warning about the health risks associated with the consumption of nitrites present in charcuterie, accused of increasing the risk of colorectal cancer.

Parliament also passed a new law on April 19, requiring companies to prove that they have not manufactured their products on land that has been deforested since December 31, 2020.
