The unusual scientist has been taking part in civil disobedience actions since 2018, including alongside the Extinction Rebellion movement. She stated in a release:
"I am here as a mom, as a citizen, as a teacher and as a scientist. It is not an exaggeration to say that the habitability of our planet is being destroyed before our eyes. What would be foolish is not to do everything in our power, including nonviolent civil action, to save a possible future for our species and the living things on which we all depend."
