A ten-meter steel monolith filled with solar-powered hard disks will be built in early 2022 on Tasmania Island, in southeastern Australia. Its aim is not only to raise awareness of the environmental emergency, but also to explain to potential future generations how we got here in the first place. The box will record data on air and sea temperature, ocean acidification, greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, human population and energy consumption. It will also use an algorithm to select and save news, tweets and publications.
