Food-Livestock-Forage-Methane

Agricultural activities, including livestock production, waste treatment and fossil fuel industry contribute to 60% of methane production. The concentration of methane in the atmosphere has more than doubled since the pre-industrial era.

The raising of cattle around the world for meat and milk production, as well as other farm animals, releases the equivalent of 3.1 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year. If it were a country, farm animals would be the largest producer of greenhouse gases after China and the United States.

In addition to solutions that aim to reduce emissions from cattle farming, it seems reasonable to also promote the reduction of meat consumption given the urgency of the situation.
